2024 Masters Hockey Memorial Weekend - St Leondards Hockey Centre, Launceston
24th - 25th of February
The Intrastate Masters Challenge brings together teams from each region of Over 30s players (Women) and Over 34s players (Men) to Launceston in February every year.
Women's Masters Information
A longstanding tradition in the Women’s Masters Calendar is the Masters Memorial Cup, a state-wide pre-season tournament played at St Leonards each year with teams from all over the State competing. It’s a lot of fun and has very successfully combined serious/competitive games of hockey with an equally serious social aspect, living up to the weekend’s motto, “Play hard, party hard”, in honour of the tournament’s namesake – the late Marion Abbott. Much prestige is attached to those who can do both!!
Serious and Social Teams
Traditionally there are two divisions, Serious and Social, so regardless of what age or stage of hockey, there is a team for you. The tournament is also open to players that have turned 30 by the end of 2023, so rustle up your “up and coming” Masters players. Each region is expected to provide at least one team per division and more if they can.
A Weekend Away
For teams coming from Hobart and the North West Coast, it’s a road trip and an opportunity to enjoy some away time. Organise your car pools, room-mates and enjoy the comradery and social side of representing your region. After the last games (and drinks at the bar) it’s on to dinner (Olde Tudor Hotel) from 7pm.
Southern Teams: Accommodation is reserved for the Saturday night at the Olde Tudor, under various room configurations (2 or 3 share superior queen room at $150 per room). Rooms will be allocated from your registration instruction, on a first in basis.
Cost
The tournament usually includes four games per team across the weekend. Two per day. Cost for the tournament is $40 per player (or $12/game if not available to play all) for registration, turf, umpires & match officials.
Register
All you need to do is register online Women's Masters Memorial Cup 2024 and lock it in your diary. The Women’s Masters Committee will sort out the teams and rosters and keep you posted. Please sign up by Thursday 1st February so teams and rosters can be finalised.
