U21 National Championships Roundup
Published Wed 14 May 2025
Last week saw the Tasmanian women's and men's U21 teams competing in Bendigo for the National Championships. And for the first time in history, BOTH teams made Quarter Finals!
The Tasmanian women’s team finished the pool stage with a 2–1 win-loss record, with their only loss coming against a strong Victorian side. In the quarter finals, they claimed a convincing win over South Australia before facing ACT—the eventual champions—in the semifinal, where they went down 3–0. In the bronze medal match against Victoria, Tasmania unfortunately fell short, finishing fourth after a 6–0 defeat.
The Tasmanian men’s team completed the pool stage with one win, one draw, and one loss. In the quarterfinal, they delivered an impressive 4–1 victory over the ACT, advancing to the semifinal where they faced a strong NSW side and were defeated 3–0. However, they bounced back to secure the bronze medal with an exciting 3–1 win over South Australia.
A massive congratulations to both of our teams, along with our officials who represented Tasmania for the competition - Aaron Kitchener, Harry Winch and Sarah Duncan.
