WALKING HOCKEY
Walking Hockey offers a chance to play hockey with a lower physical impact, making it more accessible for a wider group of athletes. This program is available for everyone - across all ages, genders, and abilities. There's a way to play hockey for everyone!
What is Walking Hockey?
Walking Hockey is a modified version of the game, played on a smaller field with a lighter ball. Sessions will consist of small warm-up activites followed by games, and participants are invited to stay after the sessions for a chance to chat and catch up with other players.
Benefits of Walking Hockey include positive mental and social interaction, injury prevention/rehabilitation, physical activity, and community engagement.
You should try Walking Hockey if:
- You're new to the sport
- You used to play, but haven't in a while and want to get back in it
- You want to play hockey, but running isn't your vibe
- Your kids play, and you want to learn some basics to help enourage them
- You want to play with your whole family
- You don't want to experience a highly-competitive environment
- You want to meet new people, make friends, and be part of a supportive community
- You just want to try something new!

Information Sessions
Throughout the course of our Walking Hockey we'll be hosting health and wellbeing information sessions, helping program participants get the most out of the sport. We want to hear from you about what sessions you'd like to see! Whether it's a chat with a dietitian about meal planning and getting the most out of your grocery haul, easy at-home stretching options from a physiotherapist, a panel about how women's sport is changing the industry, or tips on how to live your healthiest life with health conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure - if you want to hear it, we want to provide the opportunity!
