Holly Gilbar Awarded TIS Coaching Scholarship

Tasmanian hockey coach Holly Gilbar has been awarded a 2026–27 Tasmanian Institute of Sport Coaching Centre Scholarship.

Gilbar, who coached the Tasmanian Under 18 Women’s team at this year’s National Championships in Darwin, is one of 10 coaches selected for scholarships across six sports: athletics, badminton, boccia, hockey, rowing and swimming.

Delivered by the Tasmanian Government through the TIS, the Coaching Centre Scholarship Program aims to strengthen the state’s coaching capability by providing emerging and developing coaches with structured professional development, mentoring and leadership opportunities.

Scholarship recipients gain access to practical learning experiences throughout the year, including intra and interstate training camps, competitions and professional development activities, as well as opportunities to observe and learn from coaches operating in high-performance environments.

Minister for Sport Nick Duigan said the program was underpinned by the philosophy of “Better Coaches. Better Environments. Better Performance.”

“This program strengthens Tasmania’s coaching landscape. It ensures Tasmanian coaches have access to the learning, networks and experiences they need to thrive,” Minister Duigan said.

“In turn, they help our athletes reach their full potential.”

Hockey Tasmania congratulates Holly on receiving the scholarship and looks forward to seeing her continue to develop her coaching expertise and contribute to the growth of hockey in Tasmania.
