Launceston City Hockey Club has claimed the 2026 Hockey Tasmania Pride Cup, taking out the second-ever edition of the statewide initiative after an outstanding display of support for inclusion both on and off the field.

The Pride Cup recognises clubs not only for their on-field performances but also for their commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants. Clubs earned competition points based on match results across Under 12 through to Senior competitions, while teams wearing Pride colours during Pride Cup week received an additional bonus point for each match.

Launceston City finished at the top of the standings after their 13 participating teams accumulated 29 competition points as well as 13 bonus points for proudly wearing Pride colours. Their total of 42 points gave them a competition-leading average of 3.15 points per team, securing the 2026 Pride Cup title.

North West Graduates finished as runners-up after collecting 25 competition points and nine bonus points. Their total of 34 points produced an impressive average of 2.42 points per team, narrowly ahead of Tamar Churinga, who rounded out the podium with 19 competition points and 10 bonus points. Their total of 29 points delivered an average of 2.41 points per team.

The close finish highlighted the strong support shown by clubs across Tasmania during Pride Cup week, with teams embracing the opportunity to wear rainbow socks, ribbons and other Pride colours to promote inclusion throughout the hockey community.

The 2026 Pride Cup built on the success of the inaugural event, with clubs from across the state once again demonstrating that hockey is a sport where everyone is welcome, regardless of their background, identity or sexuality.

Hockey Tasmania congratulates Launceston City on claiming the 2026 Pride Cup and extends its thanks to every club, player, coach, official, volunteer and supporter who participated in this year's celebration of inclusion.

By proudly supporting Pride Cup, Tasmania's hockey community has once again shown that sport has the power to bring people together and create environments where everyone can participate with pride, respect and a true sense of belonging.
