Iain Meaney Recognised as 2025 Hockey Tasmania Volunteer of the Year

Hockey Tasmania has announced Iain Meaney as the 2025 Hockey Tasmania Volunteer of the Year for his incredible contributions to the sport.

A highly respected figure within the hockey community, Meaney has dedicated countless hours to supporting hockey across Tasmania through a wide range of critical off-field roles. His commitment, professionalism, and willingness to take on challenging responsibilities have made him an integral part of the hockey community in Hobart and beyond.

Throughout 2025, Meaney has served as a Premier League Technical Official, Technical Director for the U16 State Championships, and Match Manager for the University Premier League Men's side. In addition, he has played a significant administrative role as Co-Convenor of the Southern Competitions Committee, while also serving as Secretary and member of the Hockey Tasmania Finance, Risk & Audit Committee.

These positions, while often behind the scenes, are essential to the successful operation and delivery of competitions and events across the state. Meaney’s tireless efforts have helped ensure the smooth running of hockey at both grassroots and elite levels.

Hockey Tasmania’s Volunteer of the Year award recognises individuals who make exceptional contributions to the sport through their service and dedication, and Meaney’s impact on the Tasmanian hockey community makes him a thoroughly deserving recipient.
