Premier League Round 12 Review

Published Mon 29 Jun 2026

Beth Dobbie produced a match-winning second-half double as North West Graduates came from behind to defeat DiamondBacks 2-1 and reclaim top spot on the Women's Premier League ladder.

Belinda Page had given the defending premiers a 1-0 lead in the opening quarter, converting a penalty corner deflection, but Dobbie was on hand to level the scores late in the third term. With the contest finely poised, she then produced the decisive moment, surging into the circle before calmly picking out the bottom corner to seal a memorable victory and send the Bulldogs back to the top of the table.

Elsewhere, OHA ensured the race for top spot remains incredibly tight, with competition leading scorer Sofie McLeod scoring twice in a commanding 4-0 victory over University. The result leaves just two points separating the top three sides after 12 rounds.

Canterbury claimed their third win of the season to remain within striking distance of the top four, defeating Derwent 4-1. The Strikers struck first through
Lucinda Washington, but the Lions responded emphatically, with Blair Beard scoring twice, while Hannah Richardson and Alice Maddock also found the net to keep Canterbury's finals hopes alive.

In the Men's Premier League a moment of brilliance from Angus McMullen inspired North West Graduates to a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over DiamondBacks, lifting the Bulldogs into second place on the Men's Premier League ladder.

DiamondBacks appeared on course for victory after Noah Thomas gave his side a 1-0 lead early in the third quarter. However, Oli Stebbings drew the Bulldogs level with six minutes remaining before McMullen produced the match-winning moment just a minute later. Receiving the ball wide on the left, he burst into the circle, beat multiple defenders and rifled a superb finish into the net to complete the turnaround.

Elsewhere, Joshua Mardell fired Derwent to a crucial 1-0 victory over Canterbury, breaking the deadlock with just five minutes remaining. The win reignites the Strikers' finals hopes, closing the gap to fourth-placed Canterbury to just two points while still holding a game in hand.

University, meanwhile, responded emphatically to their first defeat of the season, cruising to a 6-1 victory over OHA. Competition leading scorer Oscar Sproule continued his remarkable form, scoring his fifth hat-trick in six matches to take his tally to 24 goals from just 10 appearances.
