Premier League Round 14 Preview
Published Thu 16 Jul 2026
The Premier League returns this weekend for Round 14 following the competition-wide bye last weekend, with several crucial matches set to shape the race for finals and the battle for the minor premiership.
The headline fixture sees ladder leaders North West Graduates take on second-placed OHA in a blockbuster top-of-the-table clash.
Fresh from an outstanding 3-0 victory over defending premiers DiamondBacks, the Ships have closed to within two points of the Bulldogs and can leapfrog them into first place with another victory. The competition's two form teams have already shared the spoils this season, with North West Graduates claiming a 2-1 win in Round 4 before OHA returned the favour with a 2-1 victory in Round 9, setting the stage for another fascinating contest.
Alongside DiamondBacks, the two sides are locked in a fierce three-way battle for the minor premiership and the potentially crucial double chance that comes with a top-two finish. Significantly, none of the three contenders have dropped a point against the bottom three teams this season, making every head-to-head clash enormously important.
OHA will be without competition leading goalscorer Sofie McLeod, who has departed for the Masters World Cup. Her absence could open the door for North West Graduates' Ashleigh Arthur or OHA teammate Julia Gunn, who both sit just one goal behind McLeod in the race for the Golden Stick.
University will be looking to further cement their place in the top four when they face Derwent. The Falcons have rediscovered their scoring touch in recent weeks and will be hoping to turn improved performances into a breakthrough result as they chase their first points of the campaign.
The final women's match sees DiamondBacks looking to bounce back after the unfamiliar experience of consecutive defeats when they take on Canterbury. However, the reigning premiers will be without experienced trio Nicole Geeves, Emily Donovan and Belinda Page due to Masters World Cup commitments, leaving their depth set to be tested. Canterbury will also be missing Blair Beard for the same reason, but the Lions may sense an opportunity to cause an upset and reignite their finals aspirations.
The men's action begins with Derwent hosting University. The Strikers missed the chance to move into the top four after their midweek catch-up loss to OHA and now face another stern assignment against a University side that handed them an 8-2 defeat in their most recent meeting. However, Derwent can draw confidence from the teams' first clash of the season, which finished in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
Canterbury then meet DiamondBacks as the Lions look to snap their losing streak, with their grip on fourth place and the final finals berth becoming increasingly precarious. The season series is evenly poised, with Canterbury claiming a 3-2 victory in Round 4 before DiamondBacks responded emphatically with a 5-0 win in Round 9. The Snakes currently occupy second place, although a North West Graduates victory in their game in hand would see them slip to third, with the two sides appearing destined to battle for the coveted double chance over the closing rounds.
The round concludes with OHA hosting North West Graduates. The Ships have revived their finals hopes with two wins from their past four matches and now sit six points outside the top four. While there is still work to do, the gap remains bridgeable if they can continue their recent improvement.
North West Graduates, meanwhile, arrive in outstanding form, having won five consecutive matches—the longest active winning streak in the competition to thrust themselves back into contention for a top-two finish. The Bulldogs claimed a convincing 6-1 victory in the most recent meeting between the sides, but the Round 4 encounter finished in an entertaining 3-3 draw, ensuring they will not underestimate an improving OHA outfit.
