Premiers and Award Winners Crowned in North-West Competitions

South Burnie and Devonport led the way as the 2026 North-West hockey season concluded with six Grand Finals across the senior and junior competitions.

South Burnie celebrated two premierships, triumphing in the Division 2 Women’s and Under 16 competitions, while Devonport completed a double in the Division 2 and Division 3 Men’s competitions.

In the Division 2 Women’s Grand Final, South Burnie defeated Smithton 3–1 to secure the premiership.

Lucy Rostan was named Player of the Match for the victorious South Burnie side. Smithton’s Georgie Poke and Devonport’s Demi O’Halloran shared the association’s Best and Fairest award, with Burnie Baptist’s Chelsea Webb finishing runner-up.

Devonport claimed the Division 2 Men’s title with a 3–1 victory over City Marians at Meercroft Park.

Daniel Ford completed an outstanding season for Devonport by winning the association’s Best and Fairest award, ahead of Smithton’s John Innes-Smith. Devonport’s Ben Loone was named Player of the Match.

Devonport added the Division 3 Men’s premiership with a 2–0 Grand Final victory over Smithton.

West Devonport’s Jon Lewis received the Best and Fairest award, while Tanner Davis of Devonport, Jason Birtwistle of City Marians and Isaac McLeod of West Devonport shared runner-up honours. Devonport’s Laurie Rockliff was named Player of the Match.

The Division 3 Women’s Grand Final produced the closest finish, with City Marians prevailing over South Burnie in a shootout.

The teams were locked at 1–1 at the final siren before City Marians won the shootout 2–1 to secure the premiership.

City Marians’ Veronica Whish-Wilson won the Best and Fairest award, while South Burnie’s Talia Ebert finished runner-up and was also named Player of the Match.

In the junior competitions, Burnie Baptist defeated Smithton 2–1 to claim the Under 13 premiership.

Burnie Baptist’s Landon Garrett was crowned the competition’s Best and Fairest, with Smithton’s Will Ettlin finishing runner-up. Kaylee Dunn received the Player of the Match award for Burnie Baptist.

South Burnie completed its premiership double with a 3–1 victory over Smithton in the Under 16 Grand Final.

Zeppelin Barnard capped an outstanding campaign by winning the Best and Fairest award and being named Player of the Match in the premiership decider. West Devonport’s Angus Clark finished runner-up in the Best and Fairest count.
