Pride Cup Returns to Hockey Tasmania in 2026
Published Wed 10 Jun 2026
Hockey Tasmania is proud to once again celebrate diversity, inclusion and belonging across our sport, with Pride Cup set to return statewide from 22–28 June 2026 as part of Pride Month.
Following the success of Hockey Tasmania's inaugural Pride Cup in 2025, clubs from across the state will once again come together to demonstrate their commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone involved in hockey.
Last year's competition marked the beginning of an important conversation around Pride in Sport within our community. Clubs participated by celebrating inclusion throughout the week, with the Pride Cup awarded using an aggregate points system. The club achieving the highest average score across the week was crowned the inaugural Pride Cup champion.
In 2025, that honour went to the Queechy Penguins.
Penguins Secretary Nic Duffy said the club was proud to be recognised as the inaugural Pride Cup winner.
"Queechy Penguins were proud to be the inaugural recipients of the Pride Cup in 2025. The Pride Round is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate diversity and inclusion within our sport."
Hockey Tasmania encourages all affiliated clubs to get involved again in 2026 by wearing rainbow colours, promoting inclusive messages and helping foster an environment where every participant feels valued and respected.
As part of this year's Pride Cup celebrations, Hockey Tasmania and Pride Cup will also host an online information session to help clubs learn more about Pride in Sport and how they can become active allies within their communities.

Hockey Tasmania encourages every club to have at least one representative attend the session.
Caitlin Bunker, Engagement Director at Pride Cup, said Hockey Tasmania continues to be a leader in creating positive change through sport.
"At Pride Cup, we believe sport is at its best when everyone feels they belong. That's why we're so proud to partner with Hockey Tasmania. Their willingness to lead from the front, set a standard for inclusive behaviour, and create opportunities for LGBTIQ+ people to be visible, welcomed, and celebrated in hockey has been remarkable.
Through education, visibility, and community leadership, this partnership continues to create lasting change across the hockey community. We're incredibly grateful to work alongside Hockey Tasmania and proud of what we've built together."
By welcoming, respecting and celebrating our differences, we build stronger teams, stronger clubs and a stronger game. Hockey Tasmania looks forward to seeing clubs from across the state unite once again to celebrate Pride Cup 2026 and demonstrate that hockey truly is a sport for everyone.
