Scanlon and McRobbie appointed to Hockey Tasmania Board

Hockey Tasmania is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Scanlon and Isabella McRobbie to its Board as Co-opted Directors.
The appointments follow a recent expression of interest process that attracted five strong candidates, each demonstrating relevant skills, experience and a genuine commitment to contributing to Hockey Tasmania.
Under the Hockey Tasmania Constitution, the Board may appoint up to two Co-opted Directors each year to support effective governance, strategic oversight and succession planning.
Hockey Tasmania CEO Damian Smith said the Board had adopted a considered selection strategy when assessing the candidates.
“In considering these appointments, the Board focused on strengthening the skills, experience and knowledge available to it, while addressing identified capability gaps and complementing the expertise of our current Directors,” Smith said.
“We also sought to increase the diversity of perspectives and experience around the Board table and ensure we have the right mix of capabilities to support Hockey Tasmania’s strategic priorities.
“The selection process considered both the individual strengths of each candidate and the collective composition of the Board. We recognise that the strongest outcome is achieved when incoming Directors complement, rather than duplicate, the skills and experience already available to us.”
Smith said the strength of the candidate pool reflected a strong level of interest in supporting the future direction of hockey in Tasmania.
“The Board was very pleased to receive expressions of interest from five strong candidates, each of whom demonstrated relevant skills, experience and a genuine commitment to contributing to Hockey Tasmania,” he said.
“I would like to thank all five candidates for the time and effort they invested throughout the expression of interest process.
“The appointments of Matt and Isabella provide an opportunity to broaden the Board’s collective skills, experience and perspectives while complementing the capabilities of our existing Directors.
“We believe they will each make a valuable contribution to Hockey Tasmania’s governance and strategic direction and, collectively, strengthen the Board’s capacity and diversity as we work towards the organisation’s future priorities.”
Scanlon and McRobbie will join Hockey Tasmania’s existing Directors in helping guide the organisation’s governance and strategic direction.
