Strong Tasmanian Contigent To Represent Australia At Masters World Cup

A strong contingent of Tasmanian players will proudly wear the green and gold after earning selection in Australian squads for the 2026 World Masters Hockey World Cup, to be held across Belgium and the Netherlands from 22 July to 16 August.
The tournament will be staged across four host cities, Brasschaat in Belgium and Breda, Schiedam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands. It is set to be the biggest Masters Hockey World Cup ever held, with a record-breaking field of more than 400 teams from around the world.
Tasmania will be well represented across both the Australian Masters and Australian Masters 2 teams, with players selected in age groups ranging from Over 35 through to Over 60.
Leading the way in the women's squads are Blair Beard and Emily Donovan in the Women's 35s, while Nicole Geeves, Angela McAuliffe and Sofie McLeod have been selected in the Women's 40s. Belinda Page and Lucy Withers will represent Australia in the Women's 45s, Sarah McRobbie and Helen Rackham have been named in the Women's 50s, and Charlie Hamilton rounds out the Tasmanian contingent in the Women's 60s.
Several Tasmanians were also selected as shadow players, with Sarah Gray and Julia Reid named for the Women's 40s, Jackie Ross, Lynette Stebbings and Elisabeth Wallace in the Women's 45s, and Kirsten Connan a shadow player for the Women's 50s.
Tasmania's depth is further highlighted by the Australian Masters 2 selections, with Sarah Gray earning selection in the Women's 35s squad, while Sarah Castley, Kirsten Connan, Jackie Ross and Lynette Stebbings have all been selected in the Women's 45s team.
Tasmania is also well represented in the Men's tournaments, with Gareth Hoddinott, Ian McHugh, Khan Riley and Liam Woodward all named in the Australian Men's 35s squad. David Woolford will compete in the Men's 40s, Adam Ellison and Brett Withington have been selected in the Men's 50s, while Peter Gaggin will represent Australia in the Men's 60s.
Harry Laughlin has been named as a shadow player for the Men's 35s squad, while Rowan Bridley has been selected as a shadow player for the Men's 55s.
David McCambridge has also earned selection in the Australian Masters 2 Men's 35s squad.
