Under 21 Men To Face Queensland In Semi Final
Published Tue 28 Apr 2026
Tasmania will take on Queensland in the Under 21 National Championships semi-finals, after suffering a 4-0 loss to Western Australia on Monday.
The semi final will take place on Wednesday 29 April at 3:30pm.
The revamped tournament format places more emphasis on group stage results, meaning that sides who finish in fourth place cannot make the medal games, with 2nd taking on 3rd place from the respective groups and the two group winners playing off for the higher seeding for the semi-finals. It meant Tasmania, as the group B winners faced off with Western Australia, where, for the first time at the Championships, the side suffered a loss.
Western Australia will take on New South Wales in the other semi final, a side that Tasmania earlier beat 5-3 in the group stage.

The Women's side, meanwhile, will play off for 5th-8th over the final two days of the tournament after they were defeated by Victoria in their quarter-final match-up, losing 5-1.
The first half was a hotly contested clash, with Tasmania taking it right up to the Victorians, after falling behind in the first quarter. Amber Sargent equalised early in the second term with a crafty move and finish, but parity lasted just 60 seconds before the Victorians had restored their lead.
Tasmania pushed hard and won 5 penalty corners in the second quarter, including a late flurry before half-time, which had the Victorians scrambling at the back. They couldn't convert, and it remained 2-1 by the half time whistle. The second half saw the Victorians start to assert control of the contest, dominating territorially and ultimately pulling away to a 5-1 win.
The Women will next face off with the Northern Territory at 3:00pm on Wednesday as they look to secure a fifth place finish at the Championships.
