School Hockey Competitions

Primary School Rosters - Term 2
-Cornelian Bay – Saturday Mornings (9:00-12:00pm)
-8 week roster (9 May – 4 July) – excl. 6 June (JLW)
-All rosters will commence at 9.00am and timeslots will be dependent upon number of team entries.
This roster is comprised of 3 levels of competition based on players age:

Quarter Field (Prep – Grade 2)

-$119 entry per team.
-Played on mini grounds
-Teams of 5
-An Umpire/Guide is provided to facilitate each game meaning teams do not need to supply a coach or umpire.
-No finals or trophies awarded

Half Field (Grades 3 & 4)

$238 entry per team
Played on half size grounds
Teams of 7
-Parents or siblings (secondary school players) coach and umpire the games. If you are unable to supply a Coach/Umpire an Umpire/Guide can be provided by Hockey Tasmania at a cost of $15 per game
-No finals or trophies awarded

Open Primary (Grades 5 & 6)
-$325 per team
-Played on full size grounds under the normal rules of hockey
-Teams of 11
-Each team is required to provide an umpire. If you are unable to supply an Umpire one can be provided by Hockey Tasmania at a cost of $15 per game.
-Finals – 1st v 2nd to be played on 4 July (Trophies/Medallions awarded).

*No semi-finals will be played. Grand final for Open Primary will be 1 V 2 and classification matches (3 v 4etc) will be played on Grand Final day.Umpires to be provided by Hockey Tasmania for the Open Primary Grand Final.


CANCELLATION POLICY: The Hobart City Council inspects the Cornelian Bay Grass grounds on Friday mornings and notifies Hockey Tasmania of closure. Should weather deteriorate during the day a decision will be made by Hockey Tasmania by 2pm and all Team contacts will be notified. All players/parents are recommended to follow Hockey Tasmania – Southern Hockey on Facebook where cancellation notifications will appear. Cancellations will also be broadcast on the three main commercial radio stations and the ABC on Saturday mornings should weather further deteriorate overnight.

All schools must provide an email address with registration and where possible a mobile phone number for every team. Schools will be invoiced Team Fees after the 2nd week of competition.

Term 4 Super Sixes (Grade 3 & 4)

-$155 entry per team.

All games played at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre starting at 4.15pm (no games in the school holidays). Note: number of games may change dependent on team entries.


GRADING:
Teams are graded according to grade/experience and ability. Please nominate teams in divisions carefully.
Div 1 - teams with a majority of proficient and experienced players.
Div 2 - teams with players of little or no experience and developing skills.
Div 3 – teams with players of little or no experience an developing skills.


Schools who are unable to enter a team based on the “divisions” outlined above may receive dispensation for players to play in a lower or higher division (e.g. School X has three year 7 students, four year 8 students, two year 9 students and one year 10 student wanting to play school hockey. It is possible that this team could play in either Div 3 (Year 7/8) or Div 2 (Year 9/10). This would be determined by the experience and ability level of the team). Any dispensation requests must be forwarded to Hockey Tasmania for approval and communication to all teams.

UMPIRES:
Two umpires are required for each game, please indicate on the registration form if you are able to provide an umpire for your team. If you are unable to provide an umpire for your team, HT will appoint umpires and your school will be invoiced at the conclusion of the season. If a school provided an umpire, they will not be charged.
FEES:
Teams will be invoiced $61.50 (inc GST) per game and umpire fees $15 (inc GST) for Div 2/3 and $20 (inc GST) for Div 1 games.

FINALS:
Div 1 Boys and Girls
In the event that the final is drawn, matches will be decided by a shoot out under the Hockey Australia rules for a shoot out.
Div 2 and 3 Boys and Girls
In the event that the final is drawn, the team who finished higher on the ladder during the home and away season will be deemed the winner.
